The alloy, named

CW617N.

Every other valve here says “brass” or “stainless steel”. CW617N is the standard machining brass used for drinking-water fittings, and naming it — with a statement that it has been laboratory-tested — is a claim about the metal in contact with what you drink.

A quarter turn is not a convenience

You reach for an angle valve when something has gone wrong: a hose has failed, a cartridge is pouring, there is water on the floor.

A quarter turn from open to shut, in one movement. A rotary valve takes five or six turns while you count them. That is the entire case for the quarter-turn design, and it is worth the few euros’ difference.

The cone nut in the box

Old installations use rigid copper pipe to the tap; new ones use a flexible hose. The supplied cone nut lets this valve take either, which means it fits a 1970s bathroom as well as a new one.
