What this site is, and how it is paid for
BathVerdict is an independent editorial site about the fittings that carry and drain water in a bathroom or on a sink — basin, kitchen, bath and shower taps, thermostatic mixers, shower systems, heads and hand showers, toilet seats, bidet seats and flush valves, basins, wastes and traps, mirrors, mirror cabinets and vanity units, water softeners and filters — and the angle valves, hoses, sealants and spares that go with them. It does not cover baths, shower trays, enclosures or complete toilets, whose references are national and differ market by market, nor water heaters and electric towel rails, whose installation is regulated work. Dimensions, centre distances, thread sizes, flow rates, operating pressures, water seal depths, capacities and load figures published by manufacturers are reported as such, with their unit written as published, with their source named, and never derived by us. In particular, a flow rate is reported with the pressure the manufacturer measured it at, and is never converted to another pressure. Nothing here replaces a manufacturer's own installation instructions, nor your national plumbing and wiring rules, which govern in particular any fixing to a wall, any electrical fitting in a damp room and any appliance discharging waste water — and two statements are repeated on every page that touches them: the load a fixing states describes the fixing and not the wall it is fixed to, and the 38 °C stop on a thermostatic mixer is a mechanical detent and not a scald-prevention device. A water softener treats limescale and is not a health product; a filter reduces what its manufacturer declares it reduces, and no benefit for skin, hair or health is claimed on this site.
