The best angle valves for 2026

An isolating valve under a basin is the cheapest useful thing in a bathroom: it is what lets you change a tap without draining the building. The threads are close to standardised across Europe — 1/2 inch male at the wall, 3/8 inch at the tap — and the ones to check are the exceptions, particularly kitchen and appliance connections. Handles divide the family: a screwdriver slot is compact and discourages fiddling, a lever or knob can be shut in a hurry with wet hands, which matters at the moment you actually need it. Two details worth the extra euro: a built-in filter, which catches the grit that ruins cartridges after building work, and a double-outlet body, which feeds a tap and a bidet seat or a filter from one wall connection instead of a tee.
