Legal basis
Handling your IP address and your approximate country as a page loads rests on legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: no page can reach you without an IP address, and without the country a "Check price" button cannot be aimed at the Amazon store that actually sells the faucet or the shower you are reading about. No interest beyond those two is pursued.
Hosting, and what leaves the European Union
The servers are Railway Corporation's (548 Market Street, PMB 68956, San Francisco, CA 94104, United States) and the delivery is Cloudflare, Inc.'s (101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States). Both are established in the United States, so opening a page here entails a transfer to that country. No access log of ours is kept or examined; where either provider retains logs for technical reasons, its own privacy policy governs them.
What we collect
Nothing that directly identifies you: no advertising cookie, no account to create, no comment field, no newsletter.
Site analytics. Only if you accept in the banner, this site uses Google Analytics 4, from Google, to count visits, page views and clicks to Amazon. Cookies (_ga, _ga_*) are then set for up to 13 months, and Google receives a technical identifier, the page viewed and information about your device; your IP address is not stored. This data is kept for 14 months and may be transferred to the United States under the Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Without your consent, no Google script loads. Your choice is kept for 6 months in your browser, and you can change it at any time with the “Manage cookies” link at the foot of the page.
What our server sees
Two parts of this site are composed for every request instead of being served as static files: the affiliate redirect and the live price lookup. Both read your approximate country — from a header our CDN provides, or failing that from your browser's language setting — so that you reach the right Amazon store in the right currency. That country is used to build the response and is not stored.
Without an IP address no web server can return anything, and this one is built the same way. That address goes into no database, forms part of no profile, and is shared with no one.
What happens once you go on to Amazon
The moment you press a "Check price" button you are off this site, and Amazon's own privacy policy takes over. Amazon sets a cookie so that any resulting purchase is credited to us. Who you are, which faucet you chose and what you paid never reach us — only a count of orders, in aggregate, weeks later.
Third parties
All the fonts are served from this site's own domain, so your browser fetches nothing from a third party. The live price is requested by the server from a price-history service, not by your browser, and that is why the service never sees you.
Your rights
Your IP address is personal data, even though we record it in no database of ours. You therefore hold the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection set out in Articles 15 to 21 of the GDPR. In practice we keep no identifier that would let us trace your requests: under Article 11 of the GDPR we are not required to collect additional information for the sole purpose of identifying you. Write to us if you believe we hold something about you, and we will look into it.
The right to complain to a supervisory authority applies in any event (Article 77 GDPR). Since the publisher is established in France, that authority is the CNIL — Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France. A reader living in another member state may equally address the authority of their own country.
