Two heights matter: standing, and folded flat
A folding tap solves exactly one problem — a window that opens inwards over the sink — and it should be judged on how well it solves it. The number that decides is folded height, and it is the one makers put in the smallest type. Measure from your worktop to the bottom of the window sash when it swings past; that is your ceiling. Then check which way it folds: backwards against the wall is usual, sideways exists, and one of the two will foul your window. The second question is mechanical. Some designs fold at a hinge that carries water, with a seal that is a wear part; others fold above the waterway, which is one less thing to leak in five years. Makers rarely say which, and when they do it is worth noting. We compare folded height, upright height, fold direction, spout reach, whether the hinge carries water, and tap hole diameter.
