The best wall-hung basins for 2026

A wall-hung basin transfers its own weight, plus a full bowl of water, plus whoever leans on it, into two bolts in a wall. That makes the wall the first question and the basin the second: solid masonry takes ordinary fixings, a stud partition needs a noggin or a proper frame, and the manufacturer's instructions are the authority on both. Nothing here replaces them. On the ceramic itself, three numbers do the work: width, projection — how far it sticks into the room, which is what makes a small bathroom workable — and fixing hole spacing, which decides whether it can land on an existing pair of bolts. Then the plumbing details that people discover late: how many tap holes are drilled (zero, one or three, and they are not interchangeable), whether there is an overflow, and the waste diameter. We compare width and projection, fixing hole spacing, number of tap holes, whether an overflow is present, waste diameter, material, and weight.

The models we recommend

  1. DeerValley wall basin 40 × 28 cm, overflow, right-hand tap hole Ø 35 mm

    Wall basin · 40 × 28 cm · with overflow · tap hole Ø 35 mm · waste opening 1.75 in (about 44.5 mm) · bowl left or right

The only basin in this catalogue that publishes BOTH its tap hole diameter and its waste opening — 35 mm and 44.5 mm — which settles the two fittings that go with it.

Best for: A narrow cloakroom where the tap has to sit to one side, and where both fittings need to be ordered in advance.

  2. HOROW wall basin 46 × 31 cm, 45 mm waste, 6 mm walls

Wall basin · 46 × 31 cm · 45 mm waste opening · 6 mm wall thickness · sloped interior · 11 cm of flat space each side of the tap hole

A wall basin designed around three published details — a 45 mm waste, 6 mm walls and 11 cm of flat ledge on each side of the tap.

Best for: A small bathroom where there is nowhere else to put the soap, and the basin ledge has to do that job.

  3. Aqua Bagno square wall basin, 500 × 420 × 130 mm, overflow included

Wall basin · 500 × 420 × 130 mm · sanitary ceramic fired at 1280 °C, stated NOT mineral cast · round overflow included · DIN tap hole · wall or furniture

A fully dimensioned square basin that states its overflow, its firing temperature and — unusually — what it is not: mineral cast.

Best for: A proper bathroom basin, wall-hung or on a cabinet, where the exact envelope has to be checked against the room first.
