A mat inside a tray or bath is held by suction cups, and suction only works on a smooth, non-porous, flat surface. On a textured anti-slip tray — which many modern trays are — the cups have nothing to seal against, and the mat slides. That single fact explains most of the disappointed reviews in this family, and it is worth checking your tray before choosing anything. Where suction works, cup count and how evenly they are spread matters more than the total: cups clustered at the corners leave a middle that lifts.
