What you are getting

A 304 stainless steel toilet roll holder in silver with a shelf above the bar, all edges deburred, a hook at the end of the cross bar to stop rolls sliding off, and a choice of an extra-large waterproof adhesive pad or conventional screw fixing.

The shelf is the reason

In a cloakroom there is nowhere to put anything down. Modern pans often have a sloped or concealed cistern, so the traditional shelf — the cistern lid — no longer exists.

The phone, the wipes, the glasses end up on the floor or on the basin. A shelf above the roll holder is where they were always going to go.

Two mounting methods, and which to choose

The maker offers adhesive for smooth surfaces and screws for uneven walls, which is the right distinction.

Given that a shelf gets loaded and leaned on, screws are the safer option wherever the wall allows them.

The hook on the bar end

A small detail: it stops a roll sliding off an open bar when you pull the paper. Open L-shaped holders do that, and this one designs against it.

What is not published

Projection — how far the whole assembly stands off the wall, which with a shelf is more than a bare bar.
