What to check on a set

Whether the individual pieces are sold separately. A dispenser pump is the first thing to fail, and a set whose parts cannot be replaced becomes several objects that no longer match.

The pump, not the bottle. Thick liquid soaps clog narrow pumps, and a foaming dispenser will not work at all with undiluted soap — it needs roughly one part soap to four parts water, and filling it neat usually finishes the pump.
