That is not an exaggeration: quiet, short fill time, telescopic outlet tube, stepless adjustment, immediate refill. There is no connection size, no fill rate, no noise group, no dimension.
Where the water comes in. Bottom entry or side entry — the valve has to match, and they are not interchangeable.
The thread. Almost always 3/8 in, and worth confirming on the old one.
The height inside the cistern. The valve stands in the water and the lid has to close over it. A telescopic tube helps, and it does not fix a valve that is fundamentally too tall.
Being adjustable and being cheap. A fill valve is a consumable — the diaphragm hardens, the float sticks, the cistern runs — and replacing one every few years for sixteen euros is a reasonable way to live.

Three things: where the water enters your cistern — from below or from the side; the thread on that connection, usually 3/8 in; and how much height there is inside the cistern for the valve to stand in. This listing answers none of them, so take the old valve out and look before ordering.
It lets the same valve suit cisterns of different depths — you set the height and it stays there. It is the feature that makes a valve genuinely universal rather than nominally so.
