How do I stop a tall bathroom cabinet tipping?

Use the anti-tip anchor the manufacturer supplies, into a fixing suitable for your wall. It is supplied because a narrow tall cabinet needs it.

Every serious maker supplies an anti-tip anchor with a tall cabinet, and the instruction is to fix it to the wall. It is supplied because a 180 cm cabinet 20 cm deep is inherently unstable once its top shelf is loaded.

Why the geometry is against it

A tall narrow unit puts weight high and has almost no base to resist a moment. Loading the top shelf, or a drawer being pulled out, is enough to start it moving — which is why this is one of the few places a comparison site should simply repeat the instruction.

What the fixing depends on

The wall. Solid masonry, hollow block, plasterboard on studs and aerated concrete each take a different anchor, and the cabinet’s instructions state what they expect. Which one suits your wall is answered there and by the fixing manufacturer, not here.

What else improves stability

Shelf loading: heavy things low. And adjustable shelves, which let you put them there rather than where the factory drilled.

If a cabinet is going above a toilet, its inside clearance must let the cistern lid lift off — otherwise it will be dismantled the day a flush valve fails.

What if the wall behind is tiled?

The tile is a surface, not a fixing — the anchor has to reach whatever is behind it, and drilling tile needs the right bit and no hammer action. The cabinet's instructions and the anchor manufacturer's cover both.

Are freestanding tall units without an anchor safe?

The maker states how their unit is intended to be installed, and where an anchor is supplied it is supplied to be used. A comparison site is not the right authority to say otherwise.
