Eleven dollars seventy-two
The cheapest grains on this shelf, and the end of Aquasure’s own ladder:
32,000 — $523.29 — $16.35 per thousand
48,000 — $629.99 — $13.12
50,000 — $679.99 — $13.60
64,000 — $749.99 — $11.72
Twice the capacity of the entry model for $226.70.
And the saving does not stop at the till
This is the part the listings never explain.
The cost of a regeneration is mostly fixed. Each cycle pushes a set quantity of brine through the resin and rinses it out, spending salt and perhaps fifty gallons of water whether the bed was nearly spent or only half used.
A larger bed therefore regenerates less often for the same household, and removes more grains for the same salt each time it does.
The trade industry sizes a softener to regenerate roughly weekly. Sizing down to save money at purchase usually costs more across ten years of salt.
But it has to get into the house
Sixty-seven and a half kilograms. Three hundred and eighty-one millimeters square. One thousand five hundred and twenty-four millimeters tall.
Fifteen inches square and five feet high, and the heaviest of the four Aquasures here — only the 222 lb (100.7 kg) PRO+AQUA on this shelf is heavier. Two people and a clear route to the basement, and headroom above it to lift the control head for service.
Aquasure’s 32,000-grain model is 7.99 in (203 mm) square and thirty kilograms. If the space is a cabinet, that is the one that goes in.
Where this one is the wrong choice
Not in a large house. In a small one.
The sizing arithmetic cuts both ways: hardness in grains per gallon times daily gallons gives grains per day, and you want about a week between regenerations. Two people on 15 gpg water using 120 gallons a day consume 1,800 grains daily — which this unit would stretch to five weeks, and resin left standing that long does not stay in good condition.
For that house, the 32,000-grain Aquasure or the 40,000-grain Aquasana is the right machine.
What is not here
No pre-filter. On a well, that is fine. On chlorinated municipal water, chlorine oxidizes the resin and shortens its life — which is exactly why Aquasure’s 48,000 and 50,000 grain models include a carbon stage and AFWFilters uses 10% crosslink resin.
If this is going on city water, buy a carbon pre-filter with it.
No certification, no resin volume, no flow rate.
