Where the power comes from is the whole question
The best sensor faucets for 2026
A touchless faucet is a small electrical appliance sitting on a water supply, and the specification that decides everything is where its power comes from. Battery models — usually four AA cells or a 6 V lithium pack — install like an ordinary faucet and need the cells changed; AC power models need an outlet under the sink, which most bathrooms do not have. Makers state a battery life in cycles or months, and that figure assumes a usage pattern you should read rather than trust. Then come the behaviors: sensing range, which decides whether the faucet runs every time someone reaches for the soap, and run-on time, the seconds it keeps flowing after you move away. Many have no mixing at all — one temperature, set at the valves below. We compare power source and stated battery life, sensing range, run-on time, whether temperature is adjustable, and faucet hole diameter.
