Kichae 16 × 12 in rectangular vessel sink review

A 16 x 12 x 5 in rectangular vessel sink in high-density ceramic with a 1.75 in drain opening.

What the maker puts in writing

  • Designed for home bathrooms, restaurants, schools, indoors or outdoors
  • “Interior and exterior smooth, non-porous glaze makes this white bathroom vessel sink more silky and protect the sink surface against stains. Constructed with super sturdy and durable with long-lasting & high density ceramic material”
  • “Rectangular above counter bathroom sink, allows you install your bathroom sink on receiving it. Our package has updated foam to well protect the sink from shipping damage”
  • “Exterior dimensions: 16”x12”x5”, our rectangle white bathroom sink has US standard 1.75” drain opening, please notice that: faucet and sink drains are not included in the package”
  • “Each item is wrapped in a specially customized anti-collision foam”

Nine and a half kilograms

This is the heaviest vessel sink on this shelf, and the comparison sitting next to it on the same shelf makes the point:

Kichae — 16 x 12 in — $57.99 — 9,525 g DeerValley — 16 x 12 in — $58.98 — 8,196 g

A dollar cheaper and sixteen per cent heavier.

On fired ceramic, mass is wall thickness. A thicker sink is less likely to chip at the rim, less likely to ring hollow, and less likely to crack when a shampoo bottle is dropped in it.

For the rest of the shelf: OCEALAGOON 3,583 and 9.0 lb (4,082 g), J-FAMILY 8.6 lb (3,901 g), NATURFLAIR 17.6 lb (8,001 g).

Three dollars fifty-six an inch

The six vessel sinks here, per inch of width, at Amazon.com prices on October 29, 2026:

$3.60 — OCEALAGOON, 15 in $3.62 — Kichae, 16 in $3.69 — DeerValley, 16 in $3.85 — OCEALAGOON, 13.5 in $3.94 — NATURFLAIR, 16 in $4.00 — J-FAMILY, 14.25 in

So the heaviest sink is within two cents of the cheapest per inch.

Non-porous inside and out

Interior and exterior smooth, non-porous glaze.

The word that matters there is interior — because the inside of a bowl is where soap film, limescale and toothpaste sit, and where a porous glaze holds a stain.

Plenty of ceramic ware is glazed carefully on the visible outside and less carefully inside the bowl and under the rim. Kichae claims both, and pairs it with high density ceramic, which is the same assertion that a firing temperature makes on two other listings here.

Worth reading directly against the NATURFLAIR on this shelf, whose own third bullet calls its interior smooth and porous — the opposite claim about the same surface.

What is still to buy, which this page half tells you

Faucet and sink drains are not included.

Good. And the opening size is published: US standard 1.75 in.

What is not said is that the drain must be a non-overflow type. A vessel sink has no overflow — none on this shelf does — so a slotted drain made for a sink with one will pour water out of its slots into the cabinet.

Three listings here state that requirement; J-FAMILY puts it best. Buy the solid drain.

And there is no faucet hole: the faucet goes into the counter behind the sink or onto the wall. Only DeerValley on this shelf says so outright.

Budget for a tall vessel-height faucet as well — a standard bathroom faucet will not clear a five-inch rim.

Five inches, and what that does to the counter

A vessel sink adds its height to the counter, and not one of the eight listings on this shelf mentions it.

A 34 inch vanity plus this five-inch bowl puts the rim at 39 inches, which is above kitchen countertop height.

The fix is a lower counter — 30 to 32 inches — chosen before the sink, not after. The J-FAMILY here is 4.41 inches if the counter is already built.

And the foam, which four of eight makers lead with

Not filler. A ceramic bowl crosses a continent on a conveyor, and Kichae names specially customized anti-collision foam.

Take the NATURFLAIR listing’s advice and apply it here: check the sink before you silicone it down. A hairline crack found afterwards is a different problem.

No firing temperature published, where J-FAMILY and NATURFLAIR both give 2,336 °F (1280 °C). No interior bowl dimensions. No warranty, which is true of all eight.

Strengths, and the catches

Strengths

  • Three dollars sixty-two per inch of width, within two cents of the best value among the six vessel sinks on this shelf
  • Nine thousand five hundred grams — sixteen per cent heavier than the same-sized DeerValley beside it, which costs a dollar more
  • States the glaze is non-porous inside AND out, which is the surface that actually gets stained

Compromises

  • Does not state that the drain must be a non-overflow type, where three sinks on this shelf do
  • No firing temperature and no interior bowl dimensions published
  • Five inches of bowl on a standard counter puts the rim near 39 inches

The questions we get

How does it compare with the DeerValley beside it?

They are the same nominal sink at almost the same price, and the weights differ. Both are 16 x 12 inch white rectangular vessel sinks; Kichae is $57.99 and 21.0 lb (9,525 g), DeerValley is $58.98 and 18.1 lb (8,196 g). So Kichae is a dollar cheaper and sixteen per cent heavier — which on fired ceramic means more material, thicker walls and a sink less likely to chip or ring hollow. What DeerValley publishes that Kichae does not is the sentence that matters most on this shelf: "With no faucet hole, no overflow" and "compatible with pop-up drain without overflow". So Kichae is the better object on the published figures and DeerValley is the better page.

What does "non-porous glaze inside and out" add?

Confirmation about the surface that actually matters. A sink’s inside is where soap film, limescale and toothpaste sit, and where a porous glaze would hold a stain. Plenty of ceramic ware is glazed to a high standard on the visible outside and less carefully inside the bowl, particularly on the underside of the rim. Kichae states both — "Interior and exterior smooth, non-porous glaze" — and pairs it with "high density ceramic", which is the same claim the firing temperature makes on two other listings here. Worth reading against the NATURFLAIR on this shelf, whose own bullet describes its interior as "smooth and porous".

What do I still need to buy?

A faucet, a drain, a trap, and two holes in the counter. A vessel sink has no faucet hole, so the faucet mounts in the counter behind it or on the wall above. And it has no overflow, so the drain must be a solid, non-slotted 1.75 inch pop-up — Kichae publishes the opening size but not the non-overflow requirement, which three other listings on this shelf do state. Fit a slotted drain made for a sink with an overflow and water will run out of its slots into the cabinet. Also budget for a tall vessel-height faucet: a standard bathroom faucet is too short to clear a five-inch rim.
