What the maker puts in writing
- Two practical mirrored doors, for shaving or applying makeup
- “Behind the doors, there’s a shelf that offers 3 height options. Your bathroom essentials of different heights can all find a home here”
- “Store your frequently-used items in the bottom compartment of this bathroom wall cabinet for easy access”
- Labeled parts and illustrated instructions make assembly straightforward
- A simple design and elegant color that blends with many home styles
Ten square inches a dollar
That is the most mirrored front per dollar on this shelf, and by a wide margin at the top end:
VASAGLE ULHC002 — 10.1 sq in per dollar
Tangkula — 7.7
Kohler — 3.6
YTSMIR — 3.1
Fifty dollars is the lowest price here and 23 by 22 inches is a useful size above a sink.
The open shelf
This is the feature that no other cabinet on this shelf has, and it earns its place.
Behind a mirrored door go the things used weekly: plasters, spare blades, medicine.
On an open shelf go the things touched twice a day: the toothbrush pot, the hand cream, the comb.
A cabinet with doors only means opening a door at seven in the morning with wet hands, every morning. The other six cabinets here are entirely enclosed.
Six kilograms, which is not nothing
6214 g — the lightest cabinet on this shelf, where the Tangkula is 16,556 g and the YTSMIR 15,200.
On a drywall wall that difference decides how much engineering the fixing needs. CHOEZON, on this shelf, is the only listing that raises the subject at all, and it does so as a warning: mounting on hollow or plaster walls is discouraged.
A light cabinet is more forgiving of a wall you cannot choose.
And the sentence that is missing
What it is made of.
Five of these seven cabinets are a wood product, and the differences matter in a room full of steam. Particleboard swells permanently once water reaches a cut edge. MDF is denser and keeps its paint at the edge. “Engineered wood” is a phrase that could mean either.
The two metal cabinets on this shelf — Kohler’s anodized aluminum and YTSMIR’s metal — are also the two most expensive.
This listing names nothing, which at fifty dollars is a reasonable inference. Keep the underside dry, which is where the steam from a sink goes.
No hinge description either, no shelf load, no formaldehyde class, and no recessed option.
