- “Measuring 15.7x12.4x67.3in, this unit adapts to your layout. Install the doors on the left or right side based on your habits, while the translucent upper door helps you locate items quickly”
- “The deep wood textures and tapered legs perfectly complement your decor while storing fresh towels and toiletries”
- Clearly labeled parts and detailed instructions, buildable without professional tools
- “Crafted from high-quality Particleboard, MDF, PMMA for reliable daily use. It includes a professional anti-tip kit to firmly secure the unit to the wall”
Seven places to put things
That is the most divided interior on this shelf: two open shelves, a drawer, and four closed compartments.
And the drawer is the part that matters. Nothing else on this shelf has one at all — and a drawer is where the small flat things live that get lost on a shelf: nail scissors, plasters, hair clips, a thermometer. On a shelf they slide to the back; in a drawer they stay findable.
Seven zones in one cabinet means things can be sorted rather than stacked, which in a bathroom shared by several people is the whole argument.
And a door you can see through
The translucent upper door helps you locate items quickly.
The PMMA panel, and it answers a real irritation: the top cabinet of a 67-inch unit is above eye level, so you cannot see in without reaching up and opening it.
Translucent means you see the shape of what is there and reach once.
Worth setting against the Haotian on this shelf, which has louvred doors instead. Those let air through, which is what stops a damp towel going moldy in a sealed box in a steamy room.
Bottles and boxes: translucent is better. Textiles: louvres are — and the Haotian is $29 cheaper.
Now the word in the material list
High-quality Particleboard, MDF, PMMA.
This is the only cabinet on this shelf whose materials include particleboard, and the distinction matters in a bathroom.
Particleboard is chips bonded with resin. The faces are sealed by the laminate; the cut edges are not. Once water reaches an edge the chips swell and the edge stays swollen.
On a floor-standing cabinet the edge at risk is the bottom, standing on a floor that gets wet.
The other five cabinets here are MDF, which is denser and holds its finish at a machined edge far better.
Two things in this cabinet’s favor: the list also includes MDF, so some panels are the better material, and the tapered legs lift the carcass clear of the floor — which is exactly the right answer to the problem. Keep the plinth dry and it will be fine.
“Narrow space saver”, examined
Floor area, across this shelf:
62.4 sq in — SoBuy, 7.9 x 7.9
64.7 — VASAGLE UBBC765, 8.4 x 7.7
139.2 — VASAGLE UBBC566, 11.8 x 11.8
~148.7 — Haotian
194.7 — this, 15.7 x 12.4
Three times the footprint of the slimmest cabinet here.
What the width buys is genuine: seven tiers, a real drawer, and compartments deep enough for a folded bath towel rather than a hand towel.
But if you came to this shelf because you have a ten-inch gap, this is not the cabinet and two others are.
Eighteen point eight kilograms
The heaviest unit on this shelf — against 33.1 lb (15,014 g) for the Haotian and 21.4 lb (9,707 g) for the slimmest VASAGLE.
On MDF and particleboard furniture, mass is panel thickness, and thickness is what stops a shelf bowing and holds a cam screw when the thing is moved.
No load capacity published, though — only the SoBuy gives one, at 99 lb.
And the anti-tip kit, as on every cabinet here
Sixty-seven inches tall on a twelve-inch depth is a gentler proportion than the SoBuy’s nine-to-one, which helps.
It is still a tall box that a child can pull over by an open door. VASAGLE calls it a professional anti-tip kit. Screw it to the wall when you build it.
No shelf adjustment published, where the maker’s own UBBC765 offers four shelves at five positions each.
