Four dimensions, which is four more than most
Overall length 8 5/8 in. Cap 2 5/8 in. Tailpiece 1 1/4 in. Drain opening 1 3/4 in.
That is enough to check against your own sink and your own trap before ordering anything — which on a parts shelf is the entire question, and which the Kohler assembly on this shelf, at three times the price, does not provide at all.
And it tells you to buy something else
For sinks WITHOUT overflow, please see KRAUS pop-drain model number PU-10.
That is the single most useful sentence on this shelf, and it is a company pointing you away from the product you are looking at.
Here is why it matters. Look at the back of your sink, below the faucet. If there is a small hole near the rim, the sink has an overflow — a channel molded in the ceramic running down to the outlet — and the drain body must be slotted so that water can get from the channel into the drain.
If there is no hole, the body must be solid.
Fit a slotted body to a sink with no overflow and it leaks into the cabinet, because the slots open into the underside of the ceramic.
Fit a solid body to a sink with one and the overflow cannot work, which you discover on the day somebody leaves the faucet running.
This is the with-overflow version. The Kohler on this shelf is the without-overflow version and says so. Four of the six listings here do not mention overflow at all.
No lift rod
Spring-loaded pop-up stopper does not require a lift rod.
Which removes the fiddliest part of fitting a traditional drain: the rod behind the faucet, the pivot through the back of the body, the clip, the strap, and the twenty minutes of adjustment in the dark to make the stopper seat.
A click-clack has none of it. You push the cap.
All the gaskets
All rubber gaskets included — creates a perfect seal for standard-size drain openings.
Small, and the difference between finishing the job and driving to a merchant for a washer. The Kohler listing on this shelf does not mention gaskets.
One year
The only warranty published among the parts on this shelf.
And the one maintenance condition
Spot-free stainless, which resists water spots and fingerprints — and which the listing says twice must not be cleaned with abrasive chemicals or cleaners.
That is how a spot-free finish stays spot-free, and it rules out the scouring cream most people keep under the sink.
When this is the right purchase
Not when the cap is cracked, and not when the click-clack has stopped springing — the small parts on this shelf fix those for $8 to $10, and they sit above the ceramic.
This replaces the body that passes through the sink, the tailpiece down to the trap, the gaskets and the stopper.
So: a leak under the sink, a corroded tailpiece, or a new sink with nothing in it. For that job, this is the best-documented part on the shelf.
