This is the cap, not the drain
Three different things are sold on this shelf and the titles blur them.
Complete assemblies: Kraus $34.95, Kohler $99.99 — body, tailpiece and stopper.
Plug tops: this at $9.66 for two, Tong Gu at $7.99 — the visible cap, with nothing inside it.
Pop-up bolts: UXELY $7.79, ALI2 $9.99 for two — the spring mechanism, with no cap.
So push your cap down before ordering. If it springs and latches but looks terrible, the cap is the problem and this is the part. If it has stopped latching, the mechanism has failed and you want a bolt.
They unscrew from each other at an 0.31 in (8 mm) thread.
Two for nine sixty-six
Four dollars eighty-three each, the cheapest cap on this shelf — and two in the pack, which on a part this small is genuinely useful. One goes in, one goes in the drawer for the other sink or the next time.
The Tong Gu cap is $7.99 for one.
The millimeter
The title says 2.60 in (66 mm). The third bullet says 2.56 in (65 mm).
Same listing, same dimension, one millimeter apart.
It matters less than it looks, because a click-clack cap sits on the drain body rather than inside the ceramic, so a millimeter of overhang is usually invisible.
But it is clearly why bullet five exists: Please measure your size before you choose it.
Measure the old cap across the top. Sixty-five or sixty-six is the standard — Tong Gu publishes 2.60 in (66 mm), the Kraus cap is 2 5/8 inches, which is 66.7. If yours is nearer 60 or nearer 70, this is not the part.
And the material, honestly
Zinc alloy.
Three other parts on this shelf are brass: the ALI2 and UXELY bolts, and the Tong Gu cap.
Zinc alloy — zamak — casts cheaply and plates beautifully, which is why handles and trim are made of it. Its weakness is standing water: it pits, and because chrome is only a plating, a pit lifts the chrome around it, so one small blemish spreads into a gray patch.
Brass corrodes much more slowly, and benignly.
A click-clack cap sits in water every time the sink is filled and in damp air the rest of the time. That is close to the worst case for zinc.
At $4.83 against $7.99 for one brass cap, there is a defensible argument either way — and with two in the pack you can simply replace it again in three years. It is worth knowing which bargain you are making.
What is not published
No height. The UXELY bolt on this shelf publishes three heights; neither cap publishes one.
No drain hole size. Tong Gu publishes 1.42 to 1.5 in (36 to 38 mm); this does not.
And two of the five bullets repeat each other, and the description repeats all five.
