Pfister Talega pull-down kitchen faucet review

A matte black high-arc pull-down that installs from above the sink, docks its spray head with a magnet and has three spray settings, under Pfister's lifetime warranty.

What the listing puts in writing

  • TopPfit: easy above-sink installation, with no need for underneath access
  • MagnePfit magnetic docking and Auto-Align for the spray head
  • HydroBlade high-pressure spray; three settings controlled at the head
  • 360° swivel, high-arc spout, forward handle, wipe-clean nozzles
  • 1 or 3 hole installation

Installed from above

Fitting a kitchen faucet usually means lying on your back in the sink cabinet with a basin wrench. TopPfit is Pfister’s answer: the faucet is secured from above the counter. On this shelf, it is the only faucet that claims it.

A head that goes back where it belongs

MagnePfit holds the spray head with a magnet, and Auto-Align turns it square as it docks. The forward-set handle leaves the space behind the faucet clear, which matters under a window.

What is missing

Reach, hole size and the cartridge. The spec table gives 15.94 inches as both spout height and overall height, which describes the faucet’s total height rather than the space under the spout. And it lists an 11.5-inch hose, against 16 to 20 inches on the other pull-downs here.

Strengths, and the catches

Strengths

  • TopPfit installation from above the sink, the only faucet here that avoids lying under the cabinet
  • MagnePfit magnetic docking with Auto-Align, so the head returns square to the spout
  • Three spray settings including a high-pressure blade, and wipe-clean nozzles

Compromises

  • No spout reach, no hole size and no cartridge described
  • An 11.5-inch hose in the spec table, the shortest figure on this shelf
  • Matte black shows dried hard water more than stainless does

The questions we get

What is TopPfit?

Pfister's mounting system that lets the faucet be fixed from above the counter. On most faucets the mounting nut is tightened from underneath, lying in the cabinet with a basin wrench. Pfister states this one installs in minutes without underneath access; you still connect the supply lines to the valves below.

Does magnetic docking matter?

It addresses the most common pull-down complaint: a spray head that sags or will not sit back in the spout. A magnet holds it and Auto-Align turns it square. The Moen Adler on this shelf uses its Reflex system for the same job.

How long is the hose?

The spec table gives 11.5 inches, the shortest on this shelf, against 16 to 20 inches for the others. If you rinse into a deep double sink, check how far the head pulls in practice before relying on it.
