The drain base and the waterproofing decide it, not the grate · review
Neodrain 48 in tile-insert linear drain review
A 48-inch wall-to-wall linear drain with a tile-insert grate, cUPC and WaterMark certified — and, by its own figures, slower than the 24-inch version at 42.5 L/min.
Fits US no-hub coupling; 2 in drain base sold separately; not compatible with Schluter Kerdi
Longer, and a little slower
Neodrain publishes both of its sizes, which lets them be compared. The 48-inch states 42.5 L/min; the 24-inch states 50.5. One outlet serves both, so the longer channel moves water further to the same hole. At about 11.2 gpm, the margin over a shower head remains wide.
The drain you do not see
A tile-insert grate takes a cut strip of your floor tile, so the drain reads as a thin line. The trade is a narrower inlet around the edges, which collects grit and wants a rinse.
What to buy with it
The 2-inch drain base, sold separately, and a waterproofing system it suits. Not Schluter Kerdi, by the listing’s own note.

Strengths, and the catches
Strengths
48 inches for a wall-to-wall drain at the back of a walk-in shower
A tile-insert grate that lets the floor tile run over the channel
cUPC and WaterMark certified, like the 24-inch Neodrain
Compromises
Its own stated flow, 42.5 L/min, is lower than the 24-inch version's 50.5
The 2-inch drain base is sold separately, and Schluter Kerdi is not compatible
A tile-insert grate shows less of the slot and catches more grit at its edges

The questions we get
Why does the longer drain flow less?
Both use one 2-inch outlet. A longer channel carries water further to the same hole, so the stated average is lower: 42.5 L/min here against 50.5 for the 24-inch. At about 11.2 gpm, it is still far above a shower head's 2.5 gpm limit.
What is a tile-insert grate?
A shallow tray in place of a slotted cover. You cut a strip of your floor tile to sit in it, and water drains through the gap around the edges. It hides the drain at the cost of a narrower inlet.
Do I need a 48-inch drain?
Only to run the full width of a shower or to slope the floor in one direction. A 24-inch drain serves most showers; the longer one is a design choice for large, open floors.
