Brondell Swash EcoSeat, elongated review

A non-electric dual-nozzle bidet seat for elongated toilets, 20.03 x 14.39 in, with a positionable nozzle.

What the maker puts in writing

  • “You’ll experience a soothing, freshwater wash that leaves you feeling clean and rejuvenated. Plus, this economical bidet requires no electricity or batteries”
  • “Enjoy dual nozzles for rear and front washes, a gentle closing seat, and sturdy, sittable lid”
  • “This elongated bidet toilet seat measures 20. 03” x 14. 39” x 2. 55” and can easily be self-installed in minutes—no plumbers necessary!”
  • “This bidet fits elongated toilets… The textured chrome dial accent adds an elegant touch”
  • From the description: “a dual nozzle system, ambient temperature, and adjustable water pressure. With both rear and front washes, the nozzle can be positioned to your liking… The ergonomic seat, slow closing lid, and the textured chrome dial accent”

Twenty point nought three inches

Measure from the center of the seat bolt holes to the front of the rim. About 18.5 inches is an elongated bowl, which is this seat. About 16.5 is round, which is Brondell’s other seat on this shelf, at the same $89.99.

The two listings carry the same five bullets and differ by 1.56 inches; on October 29, 2026 both were $89.99.

Getting it wrong is not a small annoyance. An elongated seat on a round bowl overhangs the front; a round seat on an elongated bowl leaves an inch and a half of bare rim with the hinges dragged forward.

Brondell is the only maker on this shelf that publishes figures to check against. The homfan seat here says elongated and gives no dimensions at all.

The nozzle moves

From the description: the nozzle can be positioned to your liking.

Four of the six products on this shelf adjust pressure only — how hard the water comes out. That cannot correct a nozzle aimed at the wrong place for your build; it only makes the wrong place wetter.

Two listings here let you change where the water goes: this one, and the $49.98 Vestomeli attachment with its angle adjuster.

Between a ninety-dollar seat and a fifty-dollar plate, that is a real comparison.

A lid that slow-closes and can be sat on

Most seats manage one or the other.

A slow-closing lid stops the bang at six in the morning. A sittable lid matters because people sit on toilet lids — to put socks on, to watch a child in the bath — and bidet seat lids often cover a plastic housing full of valves rather than resting on porcelain.

Brondell publishes both on both its seats, and is the only maker here that mentions either.

Ambient temperature, which means cold

No heater, because no electricity: no outlet, no cord, no batteries.

The water arrives at cold supply temperature. In February that is cold, and it is the commonest complaint about inexpensive bidets.

Every product on this shelf is cold-water only. Warm water needs electricity or a tee into the hot supply under the sink, and nobody here does either. Brondell at least says ambient water temperature in its own title rather than leaving you to discover it.

What ninety dollars does not include

Nothing about the nozzles between uses — the central hygiene question of this product.

The $39.99 LUXE publishes a guard gate the nozzles retract behind. The $65.99 homfan publishes self-cleaning nozzles and spray paths. The $49.98 Vestomeli publishes self-cleaning plus a quick release so the part comes off to be scrubbed.

Both Brondell seats are silent on it, and they are the two most expensive products on this shelf.

No warranty published on this listing either.

And the honest alternative

The BIGCOW attachment is $24.99, fits under the seat you already have, needs no bowl measurement, and publishes all-stainless lead-free water parts.

What it does not give you is a properly made seat: an ergonomic shape, a slow-closing lid you can sit on, and no plastic plate wedged under a seat that now rocks slightly.

If you are finding out whether you like a bidet at all, start with the attachment. If the bathroom matters and the bowl is elongated, this is the seat.

Strengths, and the catches

Strengths

  • Dimensions published to the hundredth of an inch, so you can check the seat against your own bowl before ordering
  • A nozzle that can be positioned to preference, which only the Vestomeli angle adjuster also offers on this shelf
  • A slow-closing lid that is also stated to be sittable, which is two virtues most seats manage only one of

Compromises

  • Ninety dollars, the highest price on this shelf alongside the round version, and nothing published about shielding or cleaning the nozzles
  • Ambient water temperature means cold supply water, with no heater and no hot supply
  • No warranty published, and no self-cleaning where the $65.99 homfan publishes nozzles and paths

The questions we get

Elongated or round — which do I need?

Measure from the center of the seat bolt holes at the back of the bowl to the front edge of the rim. Roughly 18.5 inches is elongated, which is this seat; roughly 16.5 inches is round, which is Brondell’s other seat on this shelf, at the same $89.99. The two listings carry the same five bullets and differ by 1.56 inches of length, at the same price. Getting it wrong is not a small annoyance: an elongated seat on a round bowl overhangs the front, and a round seat on an elongated bowl leaves an inch and a half of exposed rim with the hinges dragged forward. Brondell is the only maker on this shelf that publishes the figures to check against.

What does a positionable nozzle give me?

Some of what the Vestomeli attachment on this shelf gives with its angle adjuster, and the description says it plainly in the maker’s own words: "the nozzle can be positioned to your liking". Most products on this shelf adjust water pressure only, which cannot correct a nozzle aimed at the wrong place for your build. Brondell and the Vestomeli are the two here that let you change where the water goes rather than only how hard it arrives — and between a $90 seat and a $50 attachment, that is a genuine point of comparison.

Is it worth $90 when an attachment is $29?

It depends on whether you want a seat. An attachment is a thin plate that slides under the seat you own — cheaper, fits any bowl without measuring, and leaves your seat slightly raised. A seat replaces yours: it has to match the bowl, it costs three times as much, and what you get is a complete, properly made fixture with an ergonomic shape, a slow-closing lid you can sit on, and no plastic plate wedged under a seat that now rocks. If the bathroom matters, that is the difference. If you are trying a bidet to see whether you like it, buy the $28.95 attachment first.
